A mass lobby of parliament on Tuesday 17th March

Posted: 8th February 2026

As Israel’s genocide against the Palestinian people continues, the British government is escalating attempts to erode our civil liberties and repress our right to protest against that genocide. We must continue to ramp up our campaigning.

This is why we are jointly organising a mass lobby of parliament on Tuesday 17th March with a broad group of civil society organisations – will you join us?

Earlier this year, we organised a statement with over 45 civil society organisations signing on to oppose the government’s latest proposal to give the police new powers to effectively ban repeat protests. The wide-range of signatories, from the TUC to Liberty to Greenpeace shows a vast and united front against the government’s plans. You can read more about it in the Guardian here.

The proposal has been tabled as an amendment to the Crime and Policing bill in the House of Lords, where it was also debated this month and faced strong opposition from Peers. Now, we are preparing for its return to the House of Commons, which is why we need to ramp up the pressure on MPs. Will you register today?

Israel’s genocide against the Palestinian people is continuing unabated and with impunity – ongoing protests are needed to target the pillars of British complicity in Israel’s unconscionable violence. In order to shield itself from accountability, the government is trying to stop our marches, is using anti-terror legislation to label direct action as terrorism, prosecuting performance artists artists and criminalising protesters.

We will not be silenced. As part of our campaign to defend the right to protest for Palestine, already over 100 lawyers and legal scholars have written to the Home Secretary, and cross-party MPs are raising serious concerns. But we must increase the pressure – join our lobby day on 17th March to demand your MP takes action.

Yesterday in parliament there was a backbench debate secured by Brendan O’Hara MP, calling on the government to recognise Israel’s genocide in the Gaza Strip and to end its complicity. Several parliamentarians who spoke up for Palestine during the debate directly referenced the more than 13,000 emails sent to MPs from PSC supporters over the last week. Your lobbying is effective.

Taking inspiration from the resilience of the Palestinian people, we know the best way to push back against repression is to keep on campaigning. We will not stop until from the river to the sea, Palestine is free. Hope to see you in parliament on the 17th March.

In solidarity,

James

PS. As the government tries to further undermine our democratic rights and ahead of the trials of Ben Jamal and Chris Nineham next month for peacefully protesting against genocide, join the Palestine coalition on 12 February at SOAS to hear how we can defend the right to protest.
