Write to your MP: Sanctions Now

While parliament was in recess last week, the Israeli government took disgraceful steps to accelerate the de-facto annexation of large swathes of Palestinian land across the West Bank. We need your help demanding MPs take action now!

As part of PSC’s emergency response, more than 14,000 of you contacted the Foreign Office to demand sanctions against Israel. When parliament returned from recess on Monday, our allies in parliament swiftly put forward a new Early Day Motion (EDM) pressing the government to impose those sanctions.

We need you to ask your MP to support EDM 2822, titled ‘Government response to Israel’s West Bank annexation plan’, which was tabled by Richard Burgon MP. Join us demanding an to end Britain’s complicity in Israel’s ongoing violations of international law.

On the 15th February, Netanyahu’s government backed a proposal from far-right ministers to reinstate a deeply discriminatory land registration process in the West Bank – a mechanism historically used to dispossess Palestinians of their land. Under this system, Palestinians will be forced to “prove” ownership through complex and often impossible legal hurdles, while illegal Israeli settlements continue to expand.

These steps further entrench Israel’s illegal occupation and apartheid system, paving the way for large-scale land seizures and settlement expansion.

In July 2024 the International Court of Justice ruled Israel’s occupation of Gaza and the West Bank to be illegal, found Israel to be guilty of the crime of apartheid, and called on all states to take measures to bring an end to these grave violations of international law. A year and a half later, the British government has shamefully still not responded to this landmark ruling.
