The US and Israel have started an illegal war of aggression against Iran, putting the lives of millions of people across the Middle East in immediate danger as strikes continue across the region.
This war was not inevitable. Peace was an option.
The United States and Israel have chosen escalation, abandoning negotiations, breaking international law and bringing the region to the brink of a catastrophic wider conflict. At this critical moment, the British government must not allow the UK to be dragged into this war.
Yet the Prime Minister has allowed UK military bases to be used by Donald Trump in his war against Iran — effectively making Britain complicit in a reckless escalation that threatens millions of lives. This has happened without a vote in Parliament and without any transparency about the role Britain is playing.
Yesterday, Jeremy Corbyn introduced a bill that would require parliamentary approval before UK forces are deployed into armed conflict or UK bases are used by other countries for military action.
Decisions that could lead Britain into war must not be taken behind closed doors. They must be debated and approved by Parliament.
If passed, this bill would ensure that decisions which could drag Britain into war cannot be taken behind closed doors by the Prime Minister alone. Instead, Parliament would have to debate and approve any deployment of UK forces or the use of UK bases for armed conflict.
Write to your MP today and ask them to support Jeremy’s bill:

It is the responsibility of all governments — allies or otherwise — to demand an immediate de-escalation and a return to diplomacy. After two years of genocide in Palestine, and continuing violence across the region we must be unwavering in our calls for peace and disarmament.
We must oppose this dangerous escalation on all fronts including by demonstrating on the streets. If you can, please join the march to the US embassy on Saturday 7th March in London.
If you missed it, you can watch back last night’s discussion with Jeremy Corbyn, Lindsey German, Nilly Brook and Paul Rogers on the escalating situation in Iran and what our movement can do to push for peace and accountability.
And finally, please sign this statement by Your Party, which has been supported by over 15,000 people.
Together we can ensure that Britain stands for peace, international law and democratic accountability — not another catastrophic war.
