Join the ‘Defend our Right to Protest’ lobby of parliament next week

Posted: 11th March 2026

If you haven’t yet registered to join the ‘Defend our Right to Protest’ lobby of parliament next week, then please do so now.

Our right to protest is under attack from government legislation currently passing through parliament. This is why we’re bringing together a broad group of civil society organisations – including trade unions and the TUC, faith groups such as the Muslim Association of Britain and the Quakers, climate campaigns like Greenpeace and Friends of the Earth, and human rights bodies including Liberty and Human Rights Watch – to jointly hold a mass lobby of MPs on Tuesday 17th March. Will you join us?

Yes, I’ll join the lobby of parliament

Dangerous clauses in the Crime and Policing bill would empower the police to restrict demonstrations based on the ‘cumulative disruption’ caused by other protests in the same area. This could make it very hard to protest at all in key places such as outside parliament or in town centres. We need your help lobbying MPs to oppose these plans and stop them becoming law.

Ministers have made it clear that the primary target of these measures are the huge demonstrations for Palestinian rights and against the British government’s complicity in Israel’s ongoing genocide in Gaza. But the consequences of this legislation would reach far beyond that — threatening the right to protest for all campaigns and movements that rely on public demonstrations to win change.

Will you join us opposing this legislation in parliament next Tuesday? Anyone can participate, you just need to be available to be in parliament between 2pm–5.30pm.

The video above explains what you can expect from a PSC lobby of parliament. The most important thing is to be there to speak face-to face with your MP alongside other constituents.

If you’ve already registered for the lobby, but not yet had a response from your MP, then please send them a chaser message requesting a meeting. Even if you don’t have a scheduled meeting on the day, it’s still helpful for you to come to parliament to be part of the lobby. You can still ‘Green Card’ your MP by sending a physical message inside parliament, and also attend the evening rally at 6pm. More information about this will be in the briefing pack once you have registered.

I hope to see you next week.

In solidarity,
James
