Putting Palestine on the Ballot Paper

Posted: 16th March 2026

When voters go to the polls on May 7th, Palestine will be on the ballot paper.

Last year, we launched our hugely successful Councillor Pledge for Palestine, which has already seen almost 1,300 sitting councillors make a commitment to uphold Palestinian rights.

Now, we’re asking all council candidates in England to make a pledge for Palestine – committing to challenge Israel for its crimes of genocide and apartheid, and end their council’s complicity in these crimes.

Use the link below to write to your councillors and find out how you can get involved in this campaign.

This really matters: Our research has found that local council administered pension funds invest more than £12.2 billion in companies complicit in Israel’s violations of international law.

So next month we will publish the list of candidates who have made the pledge, so you know where your would-be representatives stand.

We’re doing this as part of Vote Palestine 2026, a coalition that includes PSC, Palestinian Youth Movement Britain, The Muslim Vote, the British Palestinian Committee, and the Palestinian Forum in Britain.

Together, we are sending a clear message to politicians and political parties: If you want our vote, stand up for Palestine.

We’re not stopping there. With Welsh elections approaching, we will soon be launching a pledge for Senedd candidates, asking them to support the Palestinian-led call for Boycotts, Divestment and Sanctions.

We will provide supporters in Wales with a tool to email their Senedd candidates and before polling day, we will publish the list of those who have made the commitment.

Our partners in the Vote Palestine 2026 coalition will be using a range of other tactics in the local elections, including asking supporters to make the People’s Pledge: commitment to only consider voting for candidates who support Palestinian rights.

Make the People’s Pledge now

It is easy to feel helpless in the face of Israel’s unrelenting horror, but we must take inspiration from the Palestinian people’s steadfastness, using every lever at our disposal to pressure politicians to end their complicity.

One of the tools we have is to demand that elected representatives refuse to be complicit in Israel’s crimes. That’s what we’re doing in the May elections, telling politicians and parties: If you want our votes, pledge for Palestine.

In solidarity,
