LOCATION CHANGE
Meet at 10 Downing Street at 6pm.
The Met Police have outrageously banned us from protesting Israel’s new execution law outside the embassy. Please join us at 10 Downing Street instead.
Last night the Israeli government passed a new law introducing the death penalty as a punishment exclusively for Palestinians, whether they are citizens of Israel or living under Israel’s occupation in the West Bank. This horrific new law is another clear example of Israel’s apartheid system—brutal, racist, abhorrent. It must be opposed. Write to the FCDOTONIGHT: Join our emergency protestThis new law will allow Israel to use the death penalty to punish Palestinians convicted by Israel’s apartheid court system of terrorism charges. It goes without saying that Palestinians do not have access to fair trials under Israel’s apartheid system, especially if they are living under Israel’s illegal occupation in the West Bank, where the military court system is a part of the structure of apartheid. Conviction rates in military courts are over 99% and have been widely criticised for decades by human rights experts.
The British government issued a statement condemning this law when it was in proposal form. But statements are not enough. It is long past time for the British government to impose comprehensive sanctions on Israel, including but not limited to a full arms embargo.
Some MPs have already started to raise this issue with the government, but those in power need to hear the urgency from our movement as well.
If you are in London, please do attend our emergency demonstration tonight at 6PM outside the Israeli embassy. But no matter where you are, you can email the Foreign Office to show your opposition to Israel’s new law and to call for sanctions now.
We’ll be following up soon with more actions to take on this issue, so make sure you keep an eye on our social media channels and on your email inbox for any updates. Write to the FCDO
