Le Monde reveals an image of a convoy at the gates of a major underground

nuclear complex in Iran. According to several experts, it could be part of
the country’s stockpile of enriched uranium. The scene captured by
satellite on June 9, 2025, is intriguing. The image shows the base of a
mountain rising to 1,700 meters, just a few kilometers from Isfahan, in the
heart of Iran. Deep within the rock lies one of the country’s most heavily
protected tunnel complexes. According to Tehran, it was built in 2004 to
secure nuclear material storage against aerial threats.

 Why is Iran being singled out while others escape scrutiny: Erase nuclear
apartheid. The global discourse on nuclear weapons has drifted far from its
stated goal of disarmament. What remains today is not a principled
framework for peace, but a deeply unequal system of control – one that
determines who may possess the most destructive weapons ever created, and
who must remain permanently under suspicion. The Nuclear Non-Proliferation
Treaty, which entered into force in 1970, was premised on a fundamental
bargain. Non-nuclear states agreed to forgo nuclear weapons in exchange for
access to peaceful nuclear technology and a binding commitment by
nuclear-armed states to pursue disarmament under Article VI. More than
fifty years later, that promise stands betrayed.

Isfahan early Tuesday, sending a massive fireball into the sky, and Tehran
struck a fully loaded Kuwaiti oil tanker in the Persian Gulf. The attacks
were testament to the intensity of the monthlong war the U.S. and Israel
launched against Iran, which has maintained its chokehold on the Strait of
Hormuz, closing off the vital waterway for global energy shipments, sending
oil prices skyrocketing and roiling world markets.
