Kieren Alexander, RSPB (Royal Society for the Protection of Birds) Old

Hall Marshes Site Manager explains the importance of conserving a precious
landscape in a time of climate change in the Blackwater Against New Nuclear
Group (BANNG) for Energy and Environment Column for Regional Life, April
2026. Many of us are familiar with the Essex Coast but once it would have
looked very different, with 1000s of hectares of marshland supporting sheep
and cattle. The RSPB’s Old Hall Marshes in the Blackwater Estuary just
north of Tollesbury is one of the last remaining areas of this
once-extensive, historic, coastal grazing marsh.
