Over 5,000 people have been killed across Iran, Lebanon, and the Arab Gulf states since the US and Israel launched their illegal war on Iran eight weeks ago. The ceasefire between the US and Iran is under increased strain with the US Navy attacking and seizing an Iranian cargo ship attempting to pass the US blockade. While sending a team of negotiators to Pakistan, Donald Trump has also threatened to carry out more war crimes, including the destruction of every Iranian power plant and bridge if a deal isn’t reached. Iran has ruled out an immediate return to talks, arguing the US has to end its blockade first.
If the US resumes bombing Iran and destroys its civilian infrastructure, heavy bombers currently based at RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire may well be involved in these attacks. Before the ceasefire took place, huge B-1, B-2, and B-52 bombers were carrying out twice-daily bombing missions from the base, dropping 2,000lb bombs on Iran, before returning directly to Fairford.
Despite Trump’s horrific veiled threats to use nuclear weapons against Iran, the British government is still allowing the US use of its bases. For instance, just this morning, reports indicated that A-10 ‘tank buster’ aircraft had flown out of RAF Lakenheath and US bombers are still stationed at RAF Fairford.
That’s why it is critical that we protest to call an end to Britain’s role in this illegal war. Join us this Saturday, 25 April, as CND, Stop the War Coalition, and Fairford Action demonstrate at RAF Fairford, calling on Starmer to send the US bombers home!
CND and Stop the War Coalition are organising return coaches from London, Bristol, and Birmingham. Make sure you book your seats! If other transport is being arranged in your area let us know so we can advertise it on our event page. Email [email protected].
If you can’t make the demonstration, please watch and share our recent video promoting the demonstration on Instagram and Facebook, as well as this new video from Fairford Action here and here.
Please also do consider donating to help us cover the costs of these critical protests.
