Stop the War Coalition

The International Anti-War Conference is becoming a key focus for opposition to rearmament driven austerity across Europe. We have sold 1500 tickets so far.

This will be a truly international conference

The largest union federation in Italy, the CGIL, is sending a leadership delegation, as are the UGT from Spain. From Greece the General President of the Piraeus Dockworkers is coming, as is the General President of the Steelworkers of Thessaloniki. School students from Germany, where they have just held their 50,000 strong strike against conscription are coming. So is the Belgian MP and leader of the Workers Party, Peter Mertens. They will be joined by the leader of the Genoa dockworkers, and by Mustafa Barghouti who is travelling from Palestine to address the conference. French MPs, the leader of the French teachers’ union, and an MP from the Swedish anti-war party will be attending, as will Podemos and Catalan MPs.

In the UK 10 national unions and over 100 local union branches are supporting the conference as well as the Muslim Association of Britain, CND, StW and many others.
