Documentary "From the Nakba to Camp David"

Peace with justice, security and equal rights for Israelis and Palestinians

On Nakba Day, 15 May, we are making our documentary From the Nakba to Camp David available even more widely – not only on our website and YouTube, but also on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and wherever you get your podcasts.

This is a film we believe more people urgently need to see, hear, discuss and share.

Nakba Day marks the mass displacement and dispossession of Palestinians during the creation of the State of Israel. In 1948, around 750,000 Palestinians (75-85%) were driven from, or forced to flee, their homes. Hundreds of towns and villages were depopulated or destroyed. Families were scattered across borders. A refugee crisis was created that continues to shape the region, and millions of lives, to this day.

Our film From the Nakba to Camp David traces what followed: displacement, war, diplomacy, occupation, failed political processes and the decisions whose consequences still resonate today. It examines the period from the Nakba through to the Camp David Accords, placing Palestinian experience at the centre while also asking what role Britain played – and what responsibility Britain still carries.

At a time when Palestine and Israel are too often reduced to slogans, culture-war talking points or electoral calculations, historical understanding matters.

We are also pleased to share a new episode of our Situation Report podcast with BPP Chair Andrew Whitley and Trustee Sir Vincent Fean. In this latest conversation, they discuss escalating developments in the West Bank, settlement expansion and annexation, the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza, Britain’s political response, international law, and the growing impact of Palestine on domestic politics in the UK.

The episode is available now on YouTube, Spotify, Apple Podcasts and wherever you listen to podcasts.

We encourage readers to watch the film, listen to it as a podcast, and share it with friends, family, colleagues, schools, universities, faith groups, trade unions, community organisations and anyone trying to make sense of this moment.

With thanks,
Dr Brian Brivati
Executive Director, Britain Palestine Project
