It’s not often you lose your voice at midday on a Tuesday from screaming at the top of your lungs in victory.

 

But that, folks, is what just happened at PARC HQ as we learned that news that…

 

THE WELSH GOVERNMENT HAS MADE THE DECISION TO CALL IN DARC RADAR!!

 

 

 

After getting on for three years of campaigning, a moment that would have been almost unthinkable when this all began has finally come into being.

 

DARC radar is officially no longer in the hands of Pembrokeshire County Council Planning Committee, and is in a suitcase, being carried by men in dystopian astronaut-style suits, and on its way to Welsh Government, to be, rightfully, decided at the very highest level of planning authority in Wales.

 

With an average of as low as just five in every 25,000 planning applications made in Wales being called a year, guess just how tiny a statistical probability there was that we would actually do this.

 

There was a 0.02% chance we would pull it off—and here we are everybody!

 

This is a victory for the overwhelming majority of residents of the St Davids peninsula and Wales. But in the final days that led to this decision, as we announce this news for the first time on this very email list, we want you to remember: this is a victory by all of you, writing in, and showing the powers that be that the people of the Dewisland peninsula are as much of a force to be reckoned with today as we have always been.

 

You did it. Fantastic work!

 

Does this mean that’s it?

 

 

You know what’s coming folks—this is not so much the time for the big celebrations, but rather, the start of what may well now be set to become an even more dramatic process.

 

The Plaid-led Welsh Government will now decide DARC—but given the extraordinary nature of the circumstances we are all now in, the territory ahead is uncharted. As to how high it goes, and where it ends up, it is, of course, too early to say.

 

But make no mistake: this is by far the most gigantic step forward for the campaign there has ever been. And we couldn’t be more proud.

 

 

Is the demo next Tuesday still going ahead?

 

 

Yes—absolutely it is! While it may now be more of a vigil and a launch of our ongoing intentions to keep up the pressure and make our strong and persuasive case to Welsh Government that there should be no DARC radar in Pembrokeshire, we would love to see you there for what will no doubt be an uplifting atmosphere, a great photo, and a quick blast on the skateboards in the skatepark! (That’s a joke. Please do not seriously come and do that lmao.)
