I attach the January edition of the NFLA newsletter.

 

It contains articles on the following:

  • Entry into force of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons is welcomed and celebrated.
  • UK Energy White Paper and other initiatives show ongoing strong UK Government support for new nuclear, despite the obvious shortcoming with the technology.
  • Plans for the upcoming NFLA Steering Committee and AGM, and the work of the NFLA National Forums and the Mayors for Peace Chapter.
  • NFLA’s response to the NDA Draft Business Plan and the ONR consultation on defining bulk quantities of radioactive waste.
  • NFLA raise concerns over West Cumbria deep coal mine as well as recent claims that a deep radwaste repository could partially go under the Irish Sea.
  • UK & Ireland Mayors, Provosts and Leaders for Peace briefing on the TPNW and positive progress with the European Chapter of Mayors for Peace.
  • Progress defence diversification by welcoming a recent Nuclear Education Trust matter on the issue in Scotland.
